hi! It makes me sad that this community gets so little use, even though I know I don't have anything to post in it either, so I was thinking, would anyone be interested in doing a book club sort of thing only with the short stories? we could all choose a particular story from one of her books and then come back in a week to discuss it... thoughts? how many of you would want to participate?

I would be interested. I'm working on my master's thesis right now so for the most part I don't have time for reading non-school things, but I could actually make time for short stories and it would be nice to have some social pressure to do so. Plus, I've already read all of Carter's novels but there are some short stories I haven't read yet.

I'd be interested. Although I said that about a virtual book club thing with E. M. Forster's Maurice and failed to contribute much...still, in theory, I'd like to do it!

I think it's sad how inactive this community is, too.

I'd be interested. Would we be reading Carter's stories? Could be fun to read the original fairy tales she started from and then see how she worked her own 'magic' on them. But them again I'm an academic... so I tend to be the compare and analyze reader. Could be fun, if your interested in reading some of the _Fables_ comic/graphic novels and looking at their use of fairy tales or other comic/graphic novelizations too.

what were you thinking of doing?
